Building on James Mills’ dedicated career of working with corporations, non-profit groups and American Indian tribes, Creating Stronger Nations (CSN) reflects his philosophy that organizations and governments need accountability, balance and internal support to effectively function and progress in today’s business environment. After assisting countless tribal communities write and develop governing documents that the “common person” can understand, Mr. Mills saw a need to establish the same kind of principles for the private sector as well.
In 2008, Mr. Mills formed CSN, Inc., a training and technical support company providing assistance to indigenous communities of the US and Canada, as well as to non-tribal governments, corporations and labor unions. By gleaning more than two decades of working knowledge from the corporate, non-profit and tribal sector, CSN creates a unique opportunity to channel the capacity of individual employees, organizers, leaders and other officials to realize the simplicity in building stronger organizations.
Since 1990, when Mr. Mills launched his first company, DCIAmerica, he has built the reputation of becoming the number one support provider of leadership training, governing document development, tribal enrollment management and parliamentary procedure practice. Mr. Mills has also facilitated hundreds of workshops focused on leadership, board roles and responsibilities and more.
Mr. Mills occasionally tours the national conference circuit addressing issues of constitutional literacy, good governance and tribal enrollment issues. As the President of the Consortium of Native American Parliamentarians, Mr. Mills has been contracted by tribal organizations as an objective moderator on a variety of controversial and challenging issues within their communities. Mr. Mills also continues to serve as Chairman to DCI’s Enrollment Advisory Committee, an independent committee of enrollment professionals. Mr. Mills served in a similar role as Chairman to the Tribal Enrollment Advisory Committee for the Saginaw Chippewa Nation tribal nation from 1998-2000. He also served on his local school board from 1991-1993.
